WHEN ART AND MULTIMEDIA COME TOGETHER

Imagen
I started this blog without a clear idea about what and how to post. I have always been interested in art as a way of communicating powerful messages. Nevertheless, I had never done any investigation or research concerning how art is a way of activism. That is why when they asked me about what I was interested in, I answered that I was going to investigate about how art influences on our society. This idea is reflected in "Our reason for being" , where I wrote the main objective of this blog and how the multimedia is an efficient way of doing it. This image summarizes perfectly what I have learnt with this blog, multimedia and art: AI generated content This is how I started to investigate for my second post. ¿What I am going to talk about?¿How am I going to approach the topic?¿Is it an interesting topic to read? These were some of the questions that were floating around my head. Until I finally found the perfect topic to talk about. If you think about two major social issues ...

Street art is a form of expression that is in constant evolution outside of the traditional museums, so everyone can appreciate its beauty and feel its message. It is the fusion between art and its environment, which changes the traditional way of consuming art. One of its forms of expression is graffiti, a form of visual art that consists of writing, drawing and painting on public or private places, generally visible for everyone at the streets. Sometimes we tend to think that graffiti is an illegal activity, but as everything in this life it has its pros and its cons. They are made with materials such as paint sprays, markers. The art pieces can be words, symbols, or drawings on walls, buildings and other urban structures. Proof that it is an art like any other, it has evolved throughout its short but intense history.  We normally think that the older a work of art is, the greater its value. This is why graffiti is so innovative, because what matters is its message over its age. ...

UKRAINIAN ART IN TIMES OF WAR Before the war, the Ukrainian art was experiencing a huge increase. That was thanks to the more artists and galleries that were emerging. The country was starting to participate in various art events, exhibitions and auctions. The reason of its increase was thanks to digital technologies, social networks and globalisation, succeeding in foreign countries. Nevertheless, the war is an unpredicted event that had a profound impact on the art community of the country. Artists are talking about a massive cultural disaster. Reason why now artists and the art industry has started playing the rol...

OUR REASON FOR BEING

Even if art is an essential way af communicating social issues, and is able to change people's mindset, the work of the artists has been precarious all along history.  Only the 15% of the artists can live from art, and the 72% of them is under the poverty rate. This reality needs to be changed because although everybody consumes culture, not much artists become recognized because of their artworks.   Since I was six I have had a need to create, so I stated doing drama. It gave me the opportunity to communicate messages to an audience that was there to hear me. Since then, I've seen lots of actors, directors, dancers, etc that wanted to communicate messages and governments have banned them. I've also seen others that didn't have enough money to even buy a coffee. And also, others, that were painting or playing music in the streets to survive. While I am proud to have grown up with a social conscience for artists, I believe that their work has to be dignified. Mainly, bec...
