WHEN ART AND MULTIMEDIA COME TOGETHER

I started this blog without a clear idea about what and how to post. I have always been interested in art as a way of communicating powerful messages. Nevertheless, I had never done any investigation or research concerning how art is a way of activism. That is why when they asked me about what I was interested in, I answered that I was going to investigate about how art influences on our society. This idea is reflected in "Our reason for being", where I wrote the main objective of this blog and how the multimedia is an efficient way of doing it. This is how I started to investigate for my second post. ¿What I am going to talk about?¿How am I going to approach the topic?¿Is it an interesting topic to read? These were some of the questions that were floating around my head. Until I finally found the perfect topic to talk about. If you think about two major social issues of our nowadays society you think in wars. That is why I started investigating about art in times of war. I firstly talked about Ukranian art in times of war, a country that is using art as a way of activism to help the country. Moreover, on my third blog, I decided to talk about the Palestinian art in times of war, where artists are using art as a way of resistance.

After those two tragic posts I was wondering which topic could be interesting to show the beauty of a minority art, and I suddenly thought about street art. But that is really open, so I decided to focus on the revolution of the graffiti. After this research I realized the dimension of street art, even if it is a pretty actual type of art, if we talk about graffiti as we understand it today.

As you can see I have been using for this post all AI generated pictures. The reason of this decision is that art has now to cope with AI tools. Although it is a huge advance in certain fields, we can not forget that what makes art beautiful is that is handmade, and changing this will signify the end of the essence of art.

Even if art is an essential way af communicating social issues, and is able to change people's mindset, the work of the artists has been precarious all along history.  Only the 15% of the artists can live from art, and the 72% of them is under the poverty rate. This reality needs to be changed because although everybody consumes culture, not much artists become recognized because of their artworks.   Since I was six I have had a need to create, so I stated doing drama. It gave me the opportunity to communicate messages to an audience that was there to hear me. Since then, I've seen lots of actors, directors, dancers, etc that wanted to communicate messages and governments have banned them. The international scene is suffering from two major conflicts that are affecting the physical and moral integrity of citizens. The Ukrainian and Palestinians instead of falling apart have raised their voices and have used art to go against the conflict, using art as a way of resistance.  (This week the publication will be focused on Ukraine, and the next in Palestine.)
